What a great fortune!

I made Julia and Mike a really good Chinese dinner this evening. I made it for myself too!
But here's my fortune...

It's a ROTTEN image. But it reads: " Happy news its on its way to you."
Can I hear a LID? Please?? Match? I'll take what I can get!
Happy New Year everyone! May the year of the dragon bring lots of joy and love to you all!

Painting Day!

Well, we started the "project"! The tree is coming along... taking it slow and will post pics as it comes together. Having a WONDERFUL time with Julia and she seems to be enjoying time with Aunt Krissie and Uncle Mike.
Keep watching for updates!

Dossier in possession at CCCWA office!

We got notice that the CCCWA office has our Dossier! Now, we anxiously await to hear that we are "LID" baby! (Dossier is logged in with CCCWA) What a great New Year's blessing! Then our match should HOPEFULLY be soon to follow!
2012 is the year of the Dragon, and I believe it's going to be a VERY special year filled with lots of joy for Mike and me as well as for the other families who will be traveling to bring their little ones home!
Our niece, Julia, is coming over tomorrow to help us with a little project in Kaylah's room. So, we will be posting pics as out project comes together! I know it sounds silly, but sometimes... I just sit there in her room, in the middle of the floor... trying to imagine her giggles. Soon, right?

Dossier COMPLETE!

YEAY! Dossier paperwork and photos ALL complete! We will be heading up to Denver in the morning to turn everything in to CCAI, our wonderful adoption agency!
Our good friends, Susan, Blake and little Kye came over one evening for some FUN coloring! And it was also a great photo op! Thanks Blake for taking this great photo!!
And then we went to visit more good friends, Lara and Bryan VanBeek, and had a HOOT decorating some gingerbread men sugar cookies with Alyssa and Emme. It's always fun to see people you love and to make some great memories together!
So, the next step?? Wait for our official DTC (Dossier to China) date and then our LID (Logged in Date). Our match is soon to follow! What a blessing it's going to be to finally see little Kaylah's face! I dream about her every night and and daydream about her every day!

This Ladybug is HAPPY!

Well, I shared a FANTABULOUS happy moment with Mike this evening. I checked the mailbox and there it was. An envelope from the Department of Homeland Security with our I-797!!!! YEAYYYY!!!!!! So, I am RUNNING to the bank tomorrow to get our official copy made, notarized...then sending it off to the Colorado Secretary of State! And as soon as it gets back from THERE.... then it's off to Chicago to the Chinese Consulate's. OMG... THEN--- our DOSSIER is DONE!!!!
My Mom, Christine, came for a visit in November. We had a BALL! Got all sorts of great fabrics and made OWL pillows!
Every year, I get to have fun with with Dee, Mike's mom, at Doherty High School's annual Craft Show where we've shared spaces to sell our goodies. This year, these owl pillows were a HUGE hit! I made over $500 on pillows and handcrafted/ sculpted clay ornaments!
Here are some more owls.... they all turned out so adorable!
Not a bad deal for $15 each! I made 30 and have 5 left. I will take some close ups of the ornaments, have a few of them left to sell as well! The panda bears, holding lady bug buttons, were a huge success. I have a feeling that I'll have to make more of those!!
HUGE hugs going out to Sara and Bill, who are bonding in China with their new daughter RUBY! What a CUTIE PATOOOTIE!!!! Check out their blog over at Football & Fried Rice.
Mike's Dad, Paul (ON LEFT) had a birthday in November. We all had a fun dinner at little Italian Restaurant, Luigi's. Here he is with Sweet Swinging Al Elliott. Family nights are FUN with the Murphy's. And we were lucky to have my Mom along to enjoy the ride!
Mike and Hannah at Dinner. Hmmm both look like TROUBLE!
Soon, we will be able to have little Kaylah stand with all of the Murphy Girls! Won't THAT be FUN!?!?!?!?!?

Whew! AND good news!!!!

Done. All painted, cleaned up (for the most part) and showered. Many thanks to my good friend, Alicia for coming down today and helping me this afternoon painting Kaylah's room. Even her son, Colton got to help us out a little bit!
Alicia

Me

Extreme close up of me. (Mike's idea)

Me again. Hair, OMG.... bad I know.

But it's painted. Two coats. And I guess after it's all dry, we will be able to see if we missed any spots!
Next.... painting the tree on the wall with fun leaves and owls! I have a few ideas, just need to tweak it a little bit.
On Saturday, we received our invitations to get our fingerprints done for our I-797! YEAY!!!!! Immigration paperwork is almost done! Then we can be done with our dossier! My goodness... how time flies.

Garage Sale

Last weekend, Mike and I decided to have a HUGE 3-day garage sale. We were SHOCKED at how much stuff we had to get rid of. And honestly, there's more hiding in the upper cabinets and closets and my oh MY.... the basement! There are some WONDERFUL people in this world and we were surprised that by 2pm Sunday, we had made over $671.85!! It went directly into our adoption savings account and will help us with the ongoing expenses of bringing little Kaylah home. We even had a wonderful neighbor that we never met before make an appearance and donated $50 cash towards our adoption! Needless to say, I couldn't stop the tears. Mike even went over to her and gave her a nice "side hug" and thanked her. She and her hubby are working on bringing home a little one from Congo. She also told me to make up a few adoption fundraiser signs... which I immediately did. What a great person... thank you.

Let the FUN begin!

Okie Dokie! We got all of the supplies needed to begin the FUN painting project for Kaylah's room!
I felt the need to do this now. Painting is always such a HUGE task. And it can be one more thing that can get done and marked off the MASSIVE "To Do List".
More pics to come tomorrow!

Sunday Snapshot

OK- I was told I need to post MORE pics of things going on. And I promise to.
Here's a snapshot of Mike and me when we recently went on our date weekend getaway. We were celebrating how far we have come along in our adoption journey and needed to get away to renew our spirits and to just relax!

Chinese Consulate Docs!

Well, we have received SEALED Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificate, Physical Forms, Financial Statement,  Adoption Petition and Employment Verification letters!!!
The ONLY thing we need is our I797 immigration paperwork, then we have to send it off to Chicago to get sealed and THEN, we can submit our DOSSIER! YEAYYYY!!!!!! Then we submit it to get logged into the People's Republic of China!
It's hard to believe all of this paper chasing is almost done! Then, we just have to patiently wait for our match. Which REALLY could happen ANY day. It's exciting to think of the day when we get an email or phone call from CCAI re: a potential match for our family. I try not to check my email at work, but can't seem to hope that one day soon, there's going to be an email saying that the stork has LANDED!
Smiles... Life is GOOD!

WE have paint ;)

Went of Lowe's this evening to  pick up a few gallons of paint for Kaylah's room this evening. I wanted to get her room painted in september... overtime might start up at work in the warehouse in mid-late september and my weekends are going to be busy with parenting classes and OT.  They offered extra shifts at work and I ran to sign up! Any extra money is going to go straight into the adoption savings account! I'm also working on some craft projects to sell at a craft show over the first weekend in December with my mother-in-law, Dee ;) We do this craft show every year and we always have a BALL!
Dossier items are almost complete! Some of our documents are in Washington DC, on their way to being processed at the Chinese Embassy, and some other documents ate in Chicago at THAT Chinese Embassy.
Our I800a should be going out any day, we are just waiting on confirmation from Hillary at CCAI that she mailed it out. ;)
Life is GOOD.

We know, we get OOOBERLY- excited over the littlest things.  But quite frankly... that is what keeps us going! We HAVE to celebrate every little thing. Can you imagine what we are going to be like on our "gotcha day"? *BEAMS*

The Good Stuff...

Mike checked the mailbox today! We have our PASSPORTS! YEAY!
And we had our physicals this morning too! Everything went well, we should be able to pick up our signed forms in a few days from the Doctor's office. They have to wait for blood work results to come back.
We also had a visit from Mr. Roto-Rooter. Sump pump stopped working. Hasn't worked in a while and we knew that it needed fixing. Works great now-- thank you Mr. Rooter!
It's amazing all the "little things" that keep popping up... but we know that with each little challenge... we are a few steps closer.... we can hardly wait!

HUGE smiles!

Well.. we received our marriage certificate back from the state of Nevada yesterday... and it's authenticated! We have our physicals this coming wednesday and we will get the physical forms and financial statement notarized and will send them off to get authenticated by the state of Colorado. We have some more picture taking to do!

Monday, August 1, 2011

WOOOHOOO!!

Give it up for the state of Pennsylvania! Received my authenticated birth certificate today!
C'mon Nevada!
Hehehehe

I can't believe it.....

When Mike and I got home last night from our "date night".... there was an Express Mail packet laying on the fron porch. We had such a great time seeing the new Harry Potter movie and had a nice dinner at Red Lobster... I didn't even think about the possibility of any important papers coming our way.
I let Snickers and Nougat outside and just kinda stood there looking at it. The first thing that came into my head was... oh crap... what did I forget to send? what didn't I do right? did I forget to send a check? I took a deep breath and zipped open the envelope... and there it was...
Mike's birth certificate. Authenticated by the Wyoming Department of State! I couldn't believe it! a 2 day turnaround? Holy cow! I let the dogs back in and went into the house to show Mike. He's like... what's that? I said... it's your birth certificate, back from Wyoming already!
Needless to say, it made us both smile.
Now, we just patiently wait for mine to come back from PA and our marriage certificate to come back from NV.

Friday, July 29, 2011

Colorado- Clean records!

YEAY! Hillary from CCAI sent us our Colorado Bureau of Investigation reports for Mike and me. We are clear... which we knew anyways. But now, we have our official Colorado clearance!

Thank you Tuesday...

Thank you Mr. Post Office Master...
For making us stand in the corner for over an hour as we anxiously waited to right-hand swear that yes indeed, we both really need a passport.
One more check mark.... ;)

Homestudy Approved!

Smiles. Jan, you ROCK! Jan is our caseworker. And Snickers LOVES her... I've never seen him act like this to someone he just met. Jan came to our home this past Saturday and we had a very nice visit with her. And (OMGOODNESS GASPS>>> I had dirty dishes in the sink!)  It took every ounce of energy I had to NOT clean everything so perfect... I didn't want her to think that I wasn't a good housekeeper. I did what I could, and it was just fine. We all talked and had a very heart warming conversation. She is so easy to talk with and is SO helpful with our questions.
My Dad came to Colorado for a week and helped us with SO many projects around the house. He and Mike bonded while repairing our back deck. Isn't it a shame that we had to repair something that was just built in 2004?? New home construction? Shakes head. and OMGooodness..... we FINISHED the backyard!!!! We HIRED a local company, Newlandscaping. Great owner, Andrew and a wonderful staff too! A young bunch of lads with HUGE amounts of energy and all of them had a particularly unique way of YODELING to European disco music. It was certainly entertaining! Pics soon to come... I just have to find the time to upload them here.
Birth Certificates and marriage certificates are mailed out.... to their corresponding Secretary of State's offices to get certification that they are indeed, official documents. Once we receive them back in the mail, then we send them to the US Department of State to make sure that they are indeed authenticated by the right people and that they are indeed official. Then, once we receive those back....it's off to the Chinese Embassy in either Illinois or Texas... again depending on where the documents were first originated from... we get to mail them, Via courier service to the corresponding Chinese Embassy. Thus the reason of the process we are in is called... "THE GREAT PAPER CHASE". Then once we receive those back... we can compile our dossier, submit our family photos and submit it all to our adoption agency who interprets it and translates it into Chinese and submits it to the People's republic of China.

It's hard...

not to run a white glove over everything in the house.
It's hard to find EVERY single lil' dust bunny in every corner.
It's hard to ACTUALLY put clothes away where they belong when they are out of the dryer.
It's hard to have such a quiet house...

CHEEESE!

Here are our recent couple pictures that we took in the Garden of the Gods this past Sunday morning. Our friend, James took these! We had a great time and are slowly gathering our pictures needed for our Dossier. Next photo session... this weekend... location.... front porch.

We are officially Paper Pregnant!

For the last few years, I've been so excited out seeing our first ultrasound picture! Today, we were told that we are officially paper pregnant and that we could be matched very soon to a little heart... just waiting to hear about her new Mommy and Daddy. We are anxious, excited and full of smiles just thinking about how this is all coming together! Chasing paper has never been so much fun!
We spent a wonderful afternoon with some awesome people at CCAI and were able to spend time with Lilly and Josh, the founders of the adoption agency. They were a pure joy to listen to and were SO genuine. We are so grateful for them and their loving hearts.... they are helping us create our family... they are helping us fulfill our dream...

Application APPROVED!!!!!!

OhmyGOODNESS!!
Mike and I traveled to Denver today to meet with Hillary from CCAI and she approved our adoption application today! Now it's onto dossier preparation, classes and our home study. We are looking at 5-6 months to get our dossier compiled... three cheers for paperwork!! Positive attitude... going with the flow.... Murphy's Law ROCKS....positiveness... We've waited for over 12 years for a little one... what's a few more months right? This is our destiny. I feel it in my bones. I feel it in my heart. This was the path we were given and we are soooo looking forward to our journey!
We have been so blessed from our families on support and that really helped us get to this point! They helped rocket-launch us closer to finding Kaylah and bringing her home. The support has been amazing from friends and we thank everyone and will need your continued support in getting her home!

Murphy's Law Rocks...... (or at least it HIDES things)

Social Security cards.
hmmm......
Guess we are going to the Social Security Office to ask for new cards.
Smiles.

Thank You Tuesday...

Thank you, Mr. Husband... for helping me finish entering in all of our information on our adoption application for CCAI! Whew! All pages have been scanned! YEAYYYYY
2 "official"copies of our marriage certificate.... ordered tonight! At first, when I searched the Clark County Clerk and Recorder's website, I couldn't find our certificate. Kinda freaked me out a little bit. But after I tried 4 times, I finally found it! Whew!!!! Now, we patiently await for them to appear in our mailbox and we can then turn in our application for processing. Our plan is to turn it in at the end of next week and we are SOOOOO excited!!!

Mother Nesting??

For some crazy reason, I'm finding it hard NOT to re-organize all of our closets, drawers and shelves in the ENTIRE house. I pick a spot and empty it out, clean it and reload it. Maybe it's because we are trying to gather things to have a HUGE yard sale. When I find a penny or a dime.... I ~RUN~ to the kitchen, where we keep a ziploc baggie for loose change. Each little coin chime reminds me that we are one step closer. Taking that little baggie to the bank makes me smile. Each trip adds more into our savings account where we have a cheering squad now. The tellers smile when they see me... they know our mission... and they cheer when the deposit goes in.  Which reminds me, Mike sold an autographed baseball to a guy at his work... so he placed the cash in the baggie. We need to make a trip to bank!
There's a little one out there...
We plan on getting her home as soon as we can!

Thank You Tuesday... just one day late

Thanks Murf for taking me to get new glasses! I can see!!!
Mike and I went to get glasses tonight, we will be posting pics soon!

But even better news....
We FAXED over our Medical Conditions Checklist and our Basic Qualifications' Checklist to CCAI today! I was nervous.... stood there in front of the fax machine at work... took a deep breath... and hit SEND. Then I SMILED! We are on our way Kaylah!

SO... my Thank you Tuesday is dedicated to whoever invented the fax machine! (I should Google that!)

Kaylah Marie ..(insert her real chinese name).. Murphy

I dreamt about A Name... for a little girl who will become our daughter. The dream was simple but was so real and vivid. My late Grandmother, Charlotte was crouching down, hugging a little Chinese girl. As she went to stand up, she slowly kissed her on her forehead and said, "Welcome to the family Kaylah" and she smiled into that little face then she looked at me and smiled again. I rarely wake up with tears in my eyes, this was one special occasion that I did. A morning "Happy Moment." I believe Grandma is watching over our little angel right now, making sure she's safe and sound until we get her in our arms.

Kaylah = Pure, beloved

Marie = A lovely middle name, and shared by all of the important women in our immediate family:
My middle name (Krystal Marie), my Grandmother's (Charlotte Marie), my Mother's (Christine Marie) and Mike's Mother's (DeEtte Marie)

Sent our reference listing to the agency today! YEAY! And then, we will send in our Medical Conditions listing this week... (thank you Sara for programing that into our brains!) Gathering information on getting our passports all in line. I've never had one and I have to say, that this is going to be an AMAZING life experience! Mike and I have so much love to share, we can't wait to finally have a family!

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

Thank You Tuesday...

Thank you for sharing a dream with me.
Thank you for being you.
And most of all, thank you for loving me!

Short 'n Sweet

It was a good day! Talked with a really nice guy today at work who adopted two amazing brothers from Ethiopia two years ago. We had a nice talk and he shared lots of great information with me. He smiled at the end of our conversation and said thanks--- the conversation was the best one he had all day at work! It was the best one for me too! Isn't it strange how you can feel connected somehow to other people who have been going through/gone through this process? I'm excited to start and even more excited to meet more amazing people!
Happy Tuesday!

Monday, April 4, 2011

Thank you Sara!

I had the most fantabulous talk with Sara last night. She is truly an amazing person and you should really go check out her blog: http://footballandfriedrice.blogspot.com
Mike and I were able to chat with her about our start-up-adoption-advice-ohmygoodness-what-are-we-doing conversation. She made me smile through the phone and told us to "JUMP IN" and get going. I have a strong feeling deep down inside that we were meant to do this. And for once, I am at peace in the inside, I KNOW we were chosen to go down this pathway. Research, reading, planning.... and more paperwork.
There's a little girl out there waiting... and there's a Mommy and Daddy looking...

The Beginning

Here we GO!
Adoption Paperwork .... and A LOT of it! Questions, tears and hope as well. We are excited to begin this journey together and with our family and friends. My heart just called me to look into adopting a child from China and I'm so grateful and thankful that Mike is as excited as I am! It's an amazing feeling to think that we could have a little one running around the house in a few months, makes me smile that's for sure! So, we welcome the prayers and happy thoughts, we will need them to keep us strong.
